The Maharashtra Assembly elections are underway, with voting taking place across all 288 constituencies. Polling began at 7 a.m. on November 20, 2024, and will continue until 6 p.m. The vote counting is scheduled for November 23.

The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), is hoping to retain power with promises of popular welfare schemes like Majhi Ladki Bahin for women. Meanwhile, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which consists of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (led by Sharad Pawar), is making a strong push for a comeback by focusing on issues like social justice and protecting the Constitution.
